Charlie T.

Charlie was born in Falls Church, VA and began playing the viola in the fourth grade. He received a bachelor's degree in music performance and mathematics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he studied viola with Kathryn Plummer and Christina McGann. His primary musical instruments are viola, violin, and piano, and he also enjoys playing in chamber groups and composing music.

Charlie's teaching philosophy emphasizes a solid foundation of technique, allowing students to play with more ease and comfort. He firmly believes that starting with the fundamentals of posture and hand flexibility will foster long-term success and maximize a student's enjoyment. His non-musical hobbies include reading, hiking, playing chess and other strategy games, watching his favorite sports teams lose for the umpteenth time, and so forth.
