Adam Jones is a 2024 BA-Music graduate from VCU where he studied cello under Dana and Jason McComb. He is also a graduate of Clover Hill High School where he was principal cellist of the schools touring Chamber orchestra, Cavalier 21. This is where he got his start in playing professional repertoire such as the Mendelssohn Octet and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden”.

Adam has been a cellist for eleven years but he has also been playing bass for almost eight years. At VCU he studied under Eric Wheeler (Theo Croker, Jazzmeia Horn, Samara Joy, DeeDee Bridgewater) as well as Andrew Randazzo (Butcher Brown, Charles Owens Trio, Braxton Cook, etc). Adam is a previous winner of the National Endowment of the Arts/American Theater Wing’s “Theater Songwriting Challenge” where he was under the mentorship of Pulitzer and Tony award winning playwright Michael R. Jackson (“A Strange Loop”). His prowess for world building through band-arrangements, strong leadership in the studio with world-class musicians, and strong creative direction were what set him apart from other winners at the age of 18. His work ethic garnered praise from other music directors seeing how little work his director had to do.

Adam is also a film composer. He studied under Felipe Leitao at VCU and helped pave the way for VCU’s film scoring program by piloting all of the classes before it became a major the summer after he graduated. He has scored two student films and his first feature documentary titled “Current (Part One)”, which may get a showing at the museum of African American history in DC. Adam also produces music and mixes music through self education and studying under Altria Theater’s Thomas Vecchione at VCU. He also just finished acting an a large Universal movie and does voiceover work in his spare time.

Adam has been a YMCA lifeguard since he was 15 and enjoys teaching children how to swim. In his free time he likes studying his old passion for computer programming and going to car meets. He has also been a very passionate F1 fan since his childhood.
